Basivertebral Nerve Ablation/Intraceptx

A minimally invasive spinal procedure that targets chronic vertebrogenic low back pain. If you suffer from persistent lower back pain that worsens with sitting, bending, or lifting, you may be experiencing vertebrogenic pain—pain originating from damaged vertebral endplates in your spine. When physical therapy, medications, and spinal injections no longer provide lasting relief, Basivertebral Nerve Ablation offers a proven, minimally invasive, and implant-free alternative to major spine surgery.

For years, chronic lower back pain was primarily attributed to spinal discs or surrounding muscles. However, medical research has shown that degeneration, stress, and micro-tears in the vertebral endplates (the top and bottom edges of the spinal bones) are a major source of chronic pain. The basivertebral nerve (BVN) carries these pain signals directly from the bone to the brain. By targeting this specific nerve, we can stop the pain signal at its source.

Basivertebral nerve ablation is an outpatient procedure performed under mild sedation. Using real-time X-ray guidance (fluoroscopy), a physician inserts a thin cannula through a small opening in the lower back to reach the basivertebral nerve inside the vertebra.

A specialized probe uses radiofrequency energy (heat) to permanently disable the basivertebral nerve, preventing it from transmitting pain signals. The probe is removed, leaving no hardware or implants in your back.

Key benefits of BVN ablation:

-Long-lasting and durable

-Minimally invasive and implant-free

-Preserves spinal structure

-Quick outpatient recovery
